Features

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

RootBudget is a tracking tool. It helps you plan a month, log what actually happened, and see the gap. Here's what's in the app today.

Monthly budgets

Pick a year and month, set the plan, and walk forward (or back) one month at a time. Each month stands on its own.

Income & spending groups

Organize categories the way you actually think about money. Group by Bills, Variable, Savings — whatever shape your life takes.

Track every dollar

Log income and spending against the categories you set. The math runs itself — you just enter what happened.

Spent or Remaining, your call

One toggle flips the whole budget between “here's what's gone” and “here's what's left.” Pick the framing that helps you decide.

Bulk import

When typing a month of transactions sounds like a chore, paste a batch instead. Get caught up in one sitting.

Single sign-in

Sign in with the same account you already use elsewhere — no extra password to remember, no credentials sitting in our database.

Roadmap, honest version

What's not here yet

We'd rather under-promise. Things we know we want, but haven't shipped:

  • Direct bank-feed connections (today: import a batch yourself)
  • Reports across multiple months
  • A native mobile app — the web app works on phones, but it's not native
  • Shared budgets for households

If one of these is the deal-breaker for you, tell us. It moves the priority list.
